What Is Infused Salt (and Why Does It Taste So Much Better)?

If you’ve ever tried infused salt, you know: it hits different.

At Summa Salts, we make small-batch infused sea salt in Jacksonville, FL using real, fresh ingredients — think garlic, dill, citrus zest, chives, purple basil, and more. But what exactly is infused salt, and how is it different from the flavored salts you might find at a grocery store?

Infused vs. Flavored: What’s the Difference?

“Flavored” salts are usually made by mixing dry powders with salt — garlic powder, onion powder, maybe some dried herbs. The flavor sits on the surface, and a lot of it ends up in the bottom of the jar.

Infused salt is different. We grind fresh ingredients directly into coarse sea salt, then slow-bake the mixture to lock in essential oils, aroma, and color. Every grain is packed with real flavor — it doesn’t just taste better, it cooks better too.

Why It Matters

  • ✔️ Better seasoning: flavor sticks and distributes evenly
  • ✔️ You use less, because it actually tastes like something
  • ✔️ No weird anti-caking agents or preservatives
  • ✔️ Looks beautiful on your counter (and food)

Made in Florida. Grown With Intention.

We grow many of our own herbs or source them from small farms in Northeast Florida. That means our salt not only tastes better, it feels better to use. You’re supporting local farmers, a woman-owned business, and better cooking all in one shake.
